Pink Fish Media forumilla Englannissa on mielenkiintoinen aktuelli ketju meneillään.
(kirjoittajan halvennusyritys..).
Kirjoittaja tunnistettiin Hifi World (ei suomal. Hifimaailma kuitenkaan
) lehden kirjoittajaksi:
"his piece of nonsense was penned by none other than David Price of HiFi World who, a, should know better and b, who should really have taken the opportunity to provide a more accurate picture of what is actually available to those ST readers with that kind of money to spend. £90K to blow and you'd buy DBL's? hmmm."
Juttu jatkui. Robert, moderaattori, kirjoitti postin, jossa ymmärsi ettei tuo 9kP Naim setti välttämättä mikään huono esimerkki ollut.
"Given the choice between £90k of top end Naim kit and £90K for some 'budget' Kondo I'll take the Naim every time. David is perfectly entitled to give his preference. All this foaming at the mouth really is very silly IMHO."
Sitten ylläri!
Sunday Timesin jutun kirjoittanut David Price kirjoittautui
odottamatta sisään PFM:ään ja kirjoitti oman postin:
"Hello chaps,
Well I do care actually, which is why I've taken the trouble to log in and post. Thanks to Robert the moderator for the reality interlude, and it's a little saddening that you guys are such a cynical lot. Let me tell you why I did it:
Question: you have the chance to write 500 words, celebrating high end hi-fi, which 1.65 million people (approx.) will read. Do you take it? The only trouble is, you've got to write it for 1.649999 million people who think a hi-fi is either an Amstrad stack system or a Bang & Olufsen, so you've got to make it simple. Second, your commissioning editor says you've only got 500 words and it's got to be a 'one-make' system because he doesn't want a long complex list confusing people...
Well, I am happy to say I did take this chance, as I feel that *any* publicity that real, serious hi-fi gets is good publicity. I do not own a £90,000 Naim system, nor have I been given one, nor is it appearing on an auction site next week. I basically thought that - if I had £90k to spend and I had to take a one-make system, which one would I get? No, I couldn't even specify different cables or stands. It had to be something that worked amazingly as a cohesive whole from only one brand. Well, as it happens, I'm not a huge fan of DBLs either (as any Hi-Fi World reader knows), but given it had to be a one make system, my experience of the source (and I for one still believe in source-first) CD555/555PS was such that it had to be the Naim. I am not a big fan of Meridian 800s, and the Linn Sondek CD12 that I once lived with for a happy year is no longer available, so it had to be the Naim. I love Esoteric disc players, but don't rate TEAC electronics or speakers! I love Quad 2905 speakers, but the CDP-99II CD player wouldn't hack it in a £90k system. See what I mean? There are squillions of permutations here, but I had to pick the most musically convincing one-make system, and at this point in history, I think it is the Naim... Sorry, but that's my opinion, and I was asked by a Sunday Times 'high up' to express it. It may change, who knows? But whether you like it or not, at least I'm entitled to it, without being lambasted like this?
Now, I'd be far more heartened if everyone had launched into a creative and constructive 'brainstorming' session about which one-make system they'd pick, given £90k, but it seems the old 'ad hominem' character assasination thing has reared its ugly head. If you don't like his argument, trash his character/reputation/magazine, etc. Well, I don't think it's big and it's clever. I actually think we are all 'eating' ourselves - the specialist hi-fi industry is declining and we're all arguing about the left-overs, instead of trying to get it back on the boil. We all need to take our passion out to everyday people and show them just how cool it is, and not start bitching about each others' systems. My reason for doing the Sunday Times piece, despite its painfully constrained remit, was that I wanted to get people with serious amounts of cash to spend (and who wouldn't think twice about splashing £60k on a BMW M5) into hi-fi. Is that wrong? Yes it did read a bit twee (blame the sub-editors), but it did the job, in a small and very modest way, I hope. Now, if anyone can give me any other suggestions for their best sub £100k one-make system, I am all ears... "

Hehheh! Hauskaa meininkiä. Melkein, kuin meillä Suomessa, eikö?
Vai... ette kai missanneet Hifimaailman forumilla muutama päivä (yö) sitten, kun Hifilehden
vanhat tekijät ottivat yhteen??!! Mukana mm. Tuomela, Backman, Weckström ja Nederström.
Siellä oli hiukan kipinöitä ja katkeruutta pelissä. Ja Tuomela myönsi tavallaan olleensa 20 vuotta väärässä pelkkine mittauksineen!! Salvaa minunkin pikku haavoilleni!
